How to remove and repair your Temperature Control Module (TCM).
The photographs attached are from a customer’s 2005 Grand.
Is your Ford/Mercury sticking or holding the control module to defrost? Then you just need to replace the O-Rings. They are rather simple to find on-line and the total cost for the o-rings (including shipping) is less the $10. Just takes a little time, patience and effort Just take a look at the photos they speak loud and clear.

The oil service is the life of the vehicle. The oil we install in our vehicle is similar to the vehicle as the blood we pump through the heart. The quality of the fluid and filtration is an issue to consider. Take care of your vehicle and it will take care of you, and last a lifetime.
The oil drain plug is an issue I have seen as a problem over the years of service. Which is one reason I recommend doing it yourself. Many vehicles that I have serviced have had the drain plug extremely over tightened. This can cause many problems. When you reinstall the drain plug just tighten by hand and then about 1/2 a turn with wrench. Don’t OVER tighten!
When installing the drain plug go ahead and cover it with some PTFE Thread Sealant Tape. This will help it seal and prevent any leaks from the drain plug.
The oil filter is rather similar to the drain plug, it is usually over tightened. Many filters are over-tightened. I have had to remove many oil filters over the years with special tools due to the over-tightening. When you install the new filter go ahead and fill it with new oil and then install it by hand and tighten it by hand. Don’t over tighten this with a wrench or special tool, it will cause an issue when you get ready to remove it on the next oil change.

How to repair the Mercury Grand Marquis Light Control Module.
The light control module on many Mercury and Ford vehicles are soldered rather poorly. The relays solder joint becomes cracked. Therefore the headlights and other light units controlled by this module function poorly. They may work sometimes and just stop at other times. It is rather easy to repair. Just need to solder the relay modules as shown. Please see all pictures.
You will need a 7mm socket to remove the 3 hold down bolts and a T15 for the two on top.
